Yeasayer began in 2007 and broke up in 2019, leaving behind five albums, within a whole world of music to be explored. This fictitious collection brings together their most popular songs into one vinyl collection. Their music was an eclectic blend of psychedelic pop and experimental rock, to which this design pays homage.
The vinyl design consists of two vinyls with a total of four sides (side A, B, C, D), a lyric booklet that doubles as a background for a puppet theater, a poster, and an inlet with various pop-out chimera paper puppets to be placed by the user within the opened vinyl casing.
Concept
A personal association with their music is that it sounds like spring on another planet - one that is like ours, but slightly different. In many of their songs, Yeasayer employs the rustling of trees, animal calls, and other experimental natural elements. Additionally, the collection acts as a collage of songs and to this I wished to pair visual collages, like the human / animals or the bird / flowers.
Furthermore, although the band no longer exists, their music and impact lives on and so, too, the owner of this vinyl set can continue to replace, resort and play with the figures, taking the art and the development thereof into their own hands.
